HERE COMES SPRING BREAK

Spring break is approaching and I'm somewhat struggling with the planning this year. I was looking at the news the other day and saw that some states had lifted its mask mandate and in another state kids were encouraged to burn their masks in an open fire, on capitol steps, as the parents cheered in background. 😳

I was baffled for a moment but quickly remembered where I was. This is America!…and God forbid any of our liberties are taken away from us…even if there’re proven to save our lives. 🙄

I live in a state where… I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel like it never really shut down, come to think of it, I don't think it did. Yes, I'm talking about good ole Florida, lol. One thing I know for sure, Covid or not, spring break will happen and a lot of people will make their way down to the good ole state.

So, where does that leave me? I mean us…my family….most families? Definitely, not anywhere crowded.

From the time I birthed my children, spring break has always been about them. I've always planned our trips around what they may like to do but as I mentioned earlier I’ve been struggling with the planning this year. I’m sure not one of us like our new normal but as I’ve explained to my kids we have to look at the bigger picture, which is, take precautions now… return to the things we love to do later.

Before Covid, our spring break trips consisted of outdoor activities such as; amusement parks, tours, fairs, eating out daily, bacially things that involved being around a good amount of people. This year will be a little different due to the pandemic and I stress “a little different” because it is my hope to achieve the same goal as past trips which is, to have fun. I just have to get a little creative ☺. I did decide to not completely take away some of the things we enjoy doing while on spring break, like eating out but I will ensure any restaurant we choose complies with guidelines.

I thought heavy about what we could do while being safe, this was especially a priority of mines since my niece and nephew who have minor health conditions would be accompanying us. Still, centering the trip around the kids I focused more on what we could do in our immediate environment versus out of it. So I decided we would stay in Florida but to make it more interesting we would rent a house, not just any house though…one packed amenities for the kids, (pool, arcade games etc) one that promoted indoor/outdoor living. I’m also going to stock the house with food, pack a lot of board games and playing cards to fill our evenings with. As an added bonus the vacation rental is in a gated residential community so the kids will be bringing their skates, hoover boards and anything that will keep them entertained while I drink my wine lol, jk…not kidding. ☺

No, It’s not our usual spring break but I’m confident they’ll make memories, just as they did from the trips before.

I'll post a vlog on my YouTube channel next week of the airbnb we stayed at, just incase you’re interested. 😉

Let's remember removing statewide mandates does not negate personal responsibility. Until next time. Later readers.
